A few weeks went by since the start of invisalign start. Here are a few confirmations and observations.
- First of all, just like with anything, humans are adaptable and get used to everything. After week one the life with trays became significantly easier and just normal.
- I have not lost weight and actually gained some. I’m finding myself eating a ton more in each sitting to hit my protein goals and to have the calories for the day.
- 22 hour goal is basically unachiveable. I have no idea how people do it. It takes me about 45 minutes to eat, brush, and floss. 3 times a day that’s already over 22 hours.
- You can’t let it rule your life. It’s a treatment one is going through, but it shouldn’t mean that you abandon all pleasures for the sake of this treatment. Make adjustments where needed and don’t stress too much.
Yesterday I went back to the provider and got attachments. They really are not that noticeable (well, until they stain I guess), but it will be an adjustment for taking the trays off and my bite feels super weird. Today, while eating dinner, I pinched my lip like 3 times because of the bite. It hurt like hell.
I am lucky enough to also wear rubber bands! They are quite fun to put on as well, but less than 24 hours in it feels way easier to put them back already. Like I said, we humans can get used to almost everything.
The pain from the new trays now that they are held in place by the attachments is significantly worse. This morning it was a pain to take them off and it hurt worse than the first morning 3 weeks ago. I went ahead and ordered Orthokeys and I can’t wait for them to arrive.
All in all, I am trying to keep my focus on the horizon. The next year will go by regardless. But by going through this process now, in 2024 I can have a healthier smile.
