Moving from Github to Codeberg
Moving from Github to Codeberg
Microsoft is very much in the enshittification stage of Github, with Github not even having its own leadership anymore. It is still very much a de facto platform, but there are more and more people moving away from it, just like Kev.
I've been poking around Forjejo not so long ago, but Kev's post was a final motivator.
So far I have a couple of repos that I'm using with Claude to experiment and stay up to speed with LLM developments (thoughts on this later). The overall impression is really great, it is clean, simple, has a large overlap of UI and navigation elements. I don't feel a learning curve at all, to be honest.
One thing that came to mind and I matter if it still matters: commit streaks, remember those? With LLMs stepping in, wonder if anyone cares at all anymore.
Here is my new codeberg profile.
